Broken Homes: The Cover

Since my publishers have this strange idea that I should actually finish the books I've started there will be very little in blog activity for the next month or so. To keep space occupied until normal service is resumed here is the final version of the cover of Broken Homes and below that the blurb.

A mutilated body in Crawley. Another killer on the loose. The prime suspect is one Robert Weil; an associate of the twisted magician known as the Faceless Man? Or just a common or garden serial killer?

Before PC Peter Grant can get his head round the case a town planner going under a tube train and a stolen grimoire are adding to his case-load.

So far so London.

But then Peter gets word of something very odd happening in Elephant and Castle, on a housing estate designed by a nutter, built by charlatans and inhabited by the truly desperate.

Is there a connection?

And if there is, why oh why did it have to be South of the River?

"...on a housing estate designed by a nutter, built by charlatans and inhabited by the truly desperate."

So, normal for Elephant and Castle then?

Was on the bus heading in to work from Croydon a few mornings ago, reading Whispers Underground. Just as Peter and Co. reach the Goblin Market in a terraced house in Villa Rd., just north of Brixton, the bus stops in traffic. I look up and I'm looking at the terraced houses in Villa Rd, just north of Brixton. L

Spooky. so I turned my coat inside out, just in case.

When is this coming out? I have the others three as audio books and have enjoyed them all.

How to explain the primal horror of the phrase "South of The River" to the unaware? Can't wait.

I do hope Peter pays a visit to Senate House sometime. We've got some interesting ghosts, apparently.

Is the sublime Kobna Holdbrook-Smith going to narrate this version too?

Ben Aaronovitch said...

Oh yes Kobna's doing it and I've come up with some brand new accents just for him.

I have been studying the covers of your books closely and have had a great time, not knowing the first thing about Stephen Walter! But then I am Danish and may perhaps be excused? Learned about him from a TV program on cartography.
BTW I love your books.

So Pleased!
Keep writing, I love the characters and the cheekiness of Peter.

I can see me getting this on the release day and then having to go cold turkey again waiting for the next one!

I guess I could always offer to proof read your new manuscripts for you, but again, that is cheating. But I could live with that.

Great books Ben. keep them coming.
