I must not fear.
Fear is the mind-killer.
Fear is the little-death that brings total obliteration.
I will face my fear.
I will permit it to pass over me and through me.
And when it has gone past I will turn the inner eye to see its path.
Where the fear has gone there will be nothing.
Only I will remain.”
The Litany Against Fear from Dune by Frank Herbert (1965)
I recite this whenever I'm competing in jiu-jitsu
ReplyDeleteIt helped me through various exams.
ReplyDeleteI also noted the Dune quote in "The Hanging Tree" ...... I was not here, the spice must flow etc.
ReplyDeleteYep, I'll own up. I use this too, whenever I've got yo stand up and present/do public speaking at conferences and 'stuff'(technical term). Bex, in Northern Ireland. Think I'll suggest it as a party slogan for both DUP and Sinn Fein. Might work!
