A Chase Through Bloomsbury

Last year I met artist Wayne Reynolds at a convention in Belgium and he said he'd always wanted to do a cover for Rivers of London so I commissioned him to do a sort of alternative cover for an imaginary edition of the book. Here is a low res copy...

I believe limited edition prints may be available soon.

Great, now I've got a new Pathfinder character to create. ;)

It's everything a cover should be, and then some!

I have a sad feeling that someday if I ever get to come visit London, it's going to be vaguely disappointing for the lack of actual magic in the streets.

Only just come across this blog Ben! I've just re-read the first three in the series after a gap of a year and was hoping another book was on the way....lo and behold, here it is!!!No 4! Happy days.
As a Londoner now down in the depths of Cornwall I love everything about the books.
You are a really creative, witty and entertaining writer Ben Aaranovich. Also inspiring.

@Susan: Not to worry... Even well before I first read the novels, I always found magic in London whenever I went there.

@Susan and Tom - I live in London and I beg to differ XD
- but if you stick to the Tourist parts, you'll be ok! Those areas have most of the 'wow' factor, naturally.
However, I found the Rivers Of London books gave a faithful representation, so maybe you won't be disappointed after all! :3

@star & susan: but that's what I meant. It's so much more than the tourist places (even though I tend to spend days rather than hours in the British Museum and don't get me started on the British Library). If you stray from the predetermined path of your Rough Guide, you'll always find magic. That's what so brilliantly described in the Peter Grant novels. Follow rivers, visit likely places at unlikely hours and, by all means, walk. I used to have a map where I marked all the streets I had walked. Unfortunately I lost it somewhere in the City but it was pretty black by then.
Oh and whatever you do: let your first stop be somewhere they sell you a recent edition of the A-Z...
Cheers, Tom

Great picture, although I imagine Peter to be much more handsome. I mean really... Leslie would have mentioned those ears at some point!
